Hi,

You've not mentioned what body you will use it on and that might have an influence in some cases. Asked because I don't like guessing...

Regards, David

Hallo,

i would let the Voigltänder go, its just too huge. In my opinion f2 is totally enough for a 35mm. Keep the Zeiss as the "perfect" modern and the Summarit (Edit: sorry, summaron) as the classic BW lens.

schöne Grüße,

Johann

They'll be used on M4 and M6 (classic). ZI body will also be let go.
Yesterday I voted for the ZI lens. All 3 lenses are superb but being a CV fanboy I just couldn't see you getting rid of it. Now that I see you plan to sell off the ZI body, then selling the lens only makes more sense to me.

Can only speak from my own experience but I had a 35mm Nokton and sold it (well, swapped it actually). Yes, no doubt this is a fantastic piece of glass in many ways but it just didn't work for me ergonomically. Also had a 35mm Summaron f3.5, although not as good as the f2.8 version (apparently) it was beautifully put together but just didn't give me the performance I wanted at wider apertures. I got the Zeiss quite recently and haven't used it enough to make a final judgment but I can say that ergonomically it's very nice and is an excellent performer at around f2.8 -- sharper than a Cron IV and although not as sharp as a Cron ASPH at the edges it has less distortion. I guess what I'm saying is that personally I'd get rid of the Nokton unless you absolutely must have something faster than f2.0, in which case ditch the Summaron.

The summarit is a f2.5 lens, didn´t you notice that?

I´d keep the summarit...

or sell all and buy the c-biogon which is better than any of the lenses in the list.

How much very low light do you shoot?
How much do you know before hand what situation you will meet, and can decide what lens will be the right tool, instead of grabbing all of them just in case?
Is it ok for you to switch bodies instead of lens (keeping one body dedicated to fast film can replace the Nokton)
For myself, I have decided that a very good f/2 lens is that best compromise in terms of size, quality and price. So I would keep the Biogon.

I have a couple of fast 35mm lenses (one CV and one 'lux), and after walking around with them (on a camera), my criteria has changed. I can assume they're both sharp and have a particular look, but now I want confort. I have given some thought about selling my 'lux precisely because it is HEAVY (it's a silver). I won't sell it; I would regret it. However, confort would drive my choice and if I were on your shoes, I'd sell the biggest and heaviest of the lot.

Keep us posted!

I would dump the one whose image character you like the least.

Thats my reasoning. Dump the Zeiss, which you call too sterile. Its also probably worth the most $, there's not much point selling something cheap.

The other option would be to keep the Zeiss and sell the others, its a nice middle, where the others are at the ends. Kind of like how you live with only a 50mm, or a 28mm and 90mm, skipping the 50mm. Of course, its nice to have all three!

Michael

I'd sell the Zeiss and keep the other both or sell the CV and the Summaron and keep the Zeiss.

Just realized I voted for the Summarit, and not the Summaron! I would keep the Summaron!!! It's one of my favorite 35mm options because of size, sharpness and ease of use. In that case, I change my vote to the CV 35 1.2 just due to the size and weight. I guess I'm a bigger fan of smaller = better, but that's just because I hate taking huge lenses around. Additionally, if I have a tiny lens like the summaron available, I can also carry a 50mm and/or 90mm without real issue in a small bag.

Look, I can tell which one NOT to dump - the Summaron! One of the best and most characterful 35mm lenses ever. I think THE best ever for B&W. Now, if you never do B&W, I can rationally understand getting rid of it, but emotionally, no.

Awhhhhh, that poor little Zeiss .....I would keep it

Same here. The biogon has the nicest balance between modern sharpness and contrast and smooth tonality of older designs/coatings.
I would not let the Zeiss go unless it was to get the smaller f2.8c version.

Oh... this thread is old. What did you end up choosing Thomas?
