Having used both, I like the Contax for the speed of focus, but I also like the Bessa for being pretty easy to use, no fuss.
I worry about the Contax as to my own perceived ease of damage, etc. Love the AF, auto film transport, etc.
Confession: I have played with the Contax over a long period of time (I own a camera store, and borrowed one for a month or two), but OWN the Bessa R and 4 lenses, and it is the camera of choice for most shooting, despite a couple of M3's and LTM cameras as well as a Canon Elan 7E, which I also love.
