Which 35mm's to keep with M9?

I'd sell them all, buy Gabor's pre-asph lux he won't need once he gets the FLE, and save the rest of the money. 🙂

But seriously, it sounds like you have reached a conclusion. Congrats! If it were me, I wouldn't ever use more than two lenses of the same FL. Even when I owned two 50s, I always wondered if I was making the "right" lens choice when I'd go out and shoot. My own personal hang up.

Yup, sell them all, get a 'Lux. It's not really much slower than the 35/1.2 and it's 1/5 the size. Ok, I'm thinking of the pre-asph lens which I love. Gave up my UC Hexanon to get it and it's practically welded to the M9.

If I had your opinion of the lenses you did and wanted to pare the collection down to two lenses, I'd keep the Canon 35 /1.5 and the M-Hexanon.

I have the 35 cron asph, lux asph non-FLE, the uc hex, and had the 35 cron pre-asph.
I think I'd keep the 35 cron asph if I had it in black (mine is chrome LTM) but I love the uc so I'm not sure.

I have the Perar and the Hex UC. Wouldn't part with either no matter what. Can't comment on the others.

I agree as some posted, sell all and buy the 35mm Lux Asph. A perfect match for the M9, about 80% of my pictures.

I would keep lenses that I love and will be hard to get back down the road.

other things to think about:
are you using LTM cameras?
Is the 0.9m/1m limit on some of your lenses a limitation for you?

And: I would keep at least TWO of the lenses I prefer, for the sole reason that while DAG is a great repairman by all means, it takes lots of time to get your gear back, hence the need for a backup. (also, for something small like a focus issue I would consider other repair resources)

I think that's a mistake. You have so many great ones. Just sell a few and get the lux. The perar is worth keeping.

Stay out of the pre-asph unless you want the classic, soft and low saturation look wide open. Also, I believe some version do not focus correctly on the M9.
The Asph is magic, not too contrasty, sharp and a wonderful wide open look. If you want great performance over the full aperture range, this is the one to go with.

Coding for 35mm lenses is not that essential...

Agreed, but I like to leave coding on for when it is needed, then switching to an uncoded lens might confuse my poor camera. At least that is the thought.

Perhaps I just am overdoing it. I even got the absurd hood/filter holder for the 'lux, and the series VII IR filter for it.

But to the OP, I have a Summicron IV and it lives on my M8 (I'm 50mm shooter on Full Frame). It's a wonderful lens, and i was surprised to see it missing from such a comprehensive list of 35s.

Holy Smokes! 9 35mm lenses! You've definitely got LBA.
Although I've not used any of the lenses you've got
Agree that you go the lux route
But why not keep the Perar? for those times you want to just carry a super compact rig w/o need for a bag.

Since there is no Leitz and Zeiss glass involved (my favorites) I would only keep the Nokton f 1.2

but the other presented option here even sounds better, get a Summilux!

Got the m-coder (popflash has it for a good price, then I blew all my savings on replacements for lost lens caps) coded the pre-asph summilux as an asph, and it recognized it! For good measure (if for no good reason) also coded my 90 Summilux asph. M8 recognizes both.

BTW, we are occasionally in Holland, and I notice a couple of Dutchmen on the list. Any chance of a meet-up, if I give a sufficient heads-up?
