I'd go with the Summicron.
A fantastic lens, and the only lens I regret selling.
Though I have a 50 Elmar-M which is a great lens, even if it's only f2.8
Maybe something to consider OP.

Another vote for the ZM.Planar.50.2...such a star!

They're all good... I'd just pick the bulk and speed that best suits for the most work...
I'm not been much of a 50mm fan on RF cameras but have decided it works well for me on the M8, and then the M2 also because (unlike the 35) it allows me to see around the framelines.
I've never had a Leica 50, but I like the Planar f/2, Scopar f/2.5, Sonnar f/1.5, and Heliar Classic f/2... The first two are "mainstream" choices, and the second two are "character" lenses. I like them all but I'm planning to get another Heliar, the rigid nickel-plated one.
Have fun!

Summarit!
Summarit!
Hi DK, among the options you steted, i would go for the summarit!
Recently purchased a 35 summarit and very happy about it, the 50mm lens should get the same performance.
F2.5 is not that slow when using variable iso, you can isolate the subject from the background and you´ll achieve great results from f2.5!!!
The 50mm lens has the same lenght form flange as the 35 summarit, that´s 34 mm tall, very small.
As i already have the 35mm summarit i just got the C-sonnar ZM lens because it´s compactness and speed. 40 mm from flange to top w/o filter.
Bye!

In order of my own preferences:
Fast 50s: zeiss c-sonnar 50/1.5; leica 50/1.4 pre-asph; CV nokton 50/1.5
Mid-speed 50s: zeiss planar 50 (no experience with the summarit)
For the money: zeiss planar 50 or the nokton 50
For the look: either the pre-asph lux or the c-sonnar

Hey again,
thanks everyone for the help/advice!
I think i'll buy a summicron.
I have an option for a used 50/2 cron ver.IV made in germany in 1991 in mint condition with lens hood.
Price would be 750euros (970 US $)
Should i take it?

I second the cron 50 ... For a 50 normal Lens I will pick one that is a classic and last / hold value for long time.

That's a good price for a mint Cron v.IV, but I think a new Zeiss Planar at ~650€ still provides a good alternative. I suggest you check comparative reviews to decide which one suits you best.

@OP: fast is better to avoid too much noise. Given your list...none of the above. Zeiss Planar 50/2.0 is my suggestion. Great everything.
+ 1 for Zeiss.
I believe Paul is right on...for the money vs. Image quality, I think it's a superb deal.
When I had mine, I could not have been happier. I only sold it to get a 'lux pre-aspheric, which also was not on your list, and I can understand why..

And a great deal for the money. A good one, used, is about 40% less, and they come through the classifieds pretty regularly.

Grab the cron, certainly for that price!

Seriously, the Planar is such a good lens. I have both the Planar and Lux asph..For me the the best is utterly subjective and down to rendering..Personally i prefer the more subtle rendering of the Lux..the 'pop' and colour of the zeiss don't reeeeeally do it for me but this is such a personal thing..nothing to do with ''better''.

Probably I would recommend the used Summicron though you can also find used Summarits and they are very good values indeed
