We're talking Elmars, Summitars - can they be fully collapsed on a Bessa R, Canon IVSB, or when adapter-mounted on a M body?
I found a thread here recommending against their use on a Canon P.
What's the verdict?

I think Bessa R can't take some, Leica CLs, and maybe M5s have some limitations, even the M8 can't take about 3 lenses, I think early 28 elmarits, super angulons, dual range.

Note that on some collapsibles, you can tape up rig to be extended all the time and may work. There are probably more restrictions than above, check your owners manual.

I can collapse the Summicron 5cm f2 on the Bessa R2. The Elmar and Summitar "hit something". I have not tried the Summar with it.

The Canon P's Light Baffles cause problems with collapsible lenses. The flanges hit the baffles as you collapse the lens. I suspect the Canon VI and Canon 7 have the same problem.

Collapse-ability and an M5 or CL generally don't mix. Metering is the problem with some of the older lenses and the MP/M7/M8. If the lens uses a standard rear cap you should be fine, a deep rear cap means you should look into it further before trying.

I have Canon P and collapsible summitar and serenar 5cm cant be used as brian says it hits to the sides...
