Which company makes the best looking cameras, in terms of the aesthetic appeal of the camera's appearance?

My vote goes for Nikon. They've always produced cameras that are functional but with the right amount of style.

EDIT: due to the limit of 12 options, I only posted companies that are still in business. I wanted an "other" option, but it wouldn't fit!

Currently, the Canon aesthetic is the least bad, so I chose it.

The whole 'Leica' thing really annoys me a lot of the time but I have to give them my vote.

The Leica screwmount is not really just a camera ... it's art personified in a mechanical device!

The Nikon rangefinders aren't too far behind IMO but they don't quite have the grace of a screwmount.

Zeiss for rangefinders.

Sony for full-frame DSLRs.

Nikon for reduced-frame DSLRs.

Panasonic for mirrorless interchangeable-lens.

Fujifilm for medium-format rangefinders and 1.5x fixed-lens concept cameras.

Compact cameras - who can keep track of them all?

I like my art organic, and the Leica M is the most beautiful camera ever made. It is exactly what is needed and nothing more, really. The OP asked about the "best looking," so we don't have to argue functional, so it would have to go, IMHO, to the Leica M.

Contax for everything. They're all gorgeous.

But because they're not on the list, I'm going to say Canon. A 5d mkII with 85mm f1.2L II attached is a thing of beauty.

It's interesting you should nominate the M ... if the poll had asked which camera feels best in the hands I would definitely have voted for the M.

Another poll maybe ... you can't have too many polls can you? 😀

I see that Hasselblad is NOT a choice, though they remain steadfast in their use of shiny chrome edges and overall gorgeous aesthetics which are both good looking and well performing.

Based on current production, I have to pick Leica, but in the realm of RF from years past I much prefer the looks of the Nikons.

Egad ... 39 votes for Leica with it's nearest competitor being Olympus with 6!

Who would have suspected that! (much) 😛
