Figured we haven't done one of these threads in a while.

What focal length and lens do you use the most on your R-D1?

I tend to shoot a lot with my CV 35mm color skopar wide open at f2.5, as well as my 50mm Jupiter-3 wide open at F1.5 for night and portraits.

I also use the CV 15mm super wide at F5.6-F8 for daytime wide angle shots a lot.

How about you folks, what's usually on your R-D1?

I really like the Leica Elmarit 24mm ASPH usually at F4. Great photos at a 36mm equivalent. I just use the entire viewfinder to frame the pics.

21 mostly, followed by 35....lately it's been 28.

Edit..ahh, you asked for aperture too...

21@3.4-4, 35@1.4-2, 28@2.8-4

I do the same with the CV 25 f/4.
I do enjoy the CV 40 1.4 even though it is a b***h to focus at 1.4 in critical light.
The 1X viewfinder is just pleasure with almost any lens!

CV 50mm f1.5 or CV 35mm f1.2 mainly but no real preference.

Use largest aperture when I can just to try and get a workable shot but both work well.
What a camera. Can't help singing it's praises.

My RD1 is now on the classifieds so not being used at the moment. However, 28mm was my standard lens, either the Ultron f2 or tiny 28 3.5 Color Skopar. Both used around the f4-f5.6 mark. Other than that a big fave was the CV15 for wide shots. Still have that lens for use on the Xpro.

35mm nokton @f1.4, then 5cm CZJ Sonnar @ f1.5.
Really like the 35mm (52) frameline, 1:1 finder work best for this lens.

I'm on the lookout for a CV15, as per recommended by lots! Or a CV 28/2 or 1.9
Currently I have a 40/1.5 S.C Nokton and 50/1.5 that I use on it, depending how much light I can get away with f2-f4.

Great seeing people still using the wonderful R-D1 :) thought this turned into X-Trans-fest.

1 year with 35mm/40mm then this year mostly the 21mm. Tried 50mm on several occasions but it's really too long for me. I dont like to be too far from my subjects :)

Interesting, how do you find using a 50mm lens all the time with the 1.5x crop?

I guess I "grew up" with digital using D40, D70 and D200 and 50mm so I am not conscience of crop. I just use the viewfinder and my feet to compose. But I have wanted a 20 something lens for a while, maybe now I will save for one. Also my Summar has been my favorite since I got it even more since I was finally able to find the hood for it at a decent price.
