while 40mm is the focal length of my choice it is equivalent to a 60mm on the R-D1. After i tried to shoot with a 15mm (equ. to 21-22mm) it's just so damn fun to shoot so i*m stuck with 15mm for now XD
the 2 lenses Ive used the most were the 12/5.6 Heliar and the 35/1.4 SC Nokton, having an equivalent of a 18/50 set. quite versatile and both lenses are tiny, which is great for travelling. it made me appreciate a 21/50 set for full frame. sometimes I used the 21/2.8 Biogon also to get a 32mm field of view. I sold my R-D1 last year but few weeks ago traded my X100 for a friend's R-D1s. took it for some shots with a v3 35mm Summicron and the 21/1.8 Ultron. the Ultron shots are fantastic, loved the results. and the lens balance the camera weight quite well, just like the 35/1.2 (even better, in fact).
I still use the R-D1. Use the 35 summicron and 28 elmarit most followed by the 15 mm voigtlander. These times i use the same lenses also on a sony nex 5r but cannot quit with the epson.
