After a long haitus from my little CL, I'm becoming reaquainted with it. Efke 25 processed in Pyro and drum scanned yields very nice 10x16 prints. Plus the CL is a little more pocketable than my G2.

Though I've produced at least a couple thousand nice images with the stock Rokkor 40, I've been thinking about picking up some new glass and moving out to a 35mm.

What do you guys like, and what works well with my 30 year old little tank? I'm mostly considering a Zeiss 35mm f/2 Biogon T* (compatible?) and the comparable Summicron. I'm a long time fan of Zeiss optics, but I think it's a longer lens, and compactness is an issue.....anything else I should consider? Or......should I just stick with the Rokkor?

hmm.....

Thanks!
Chris

I'd also say stick with the excellent little Rokkor. The Zeiss 50mm C-Sonnar is the only one in the ZM line that is reasonably compact, and the recent Asph Summicrons and Summiluxes are also much larger than the Rokkor... which is comparable in size to the pre-asph 35 'crons.

I use a Voigtlander Nokton 40mm f/1.4 with my CLE for the extra speed, and it's pretty compact too... another good choice.

The lenses I like on the CL:
the 'stock' 40,
the Skopar 50/2.5
the Ultron 28/1.9

The full finder is a good 28 approx.

The way the camera/lens fits in the hand is great with the ultron.. but I took the focus baton off and hold the rig like I learned for slr.. the ultron on the cl is sorta like putting a big ol' vivitar zoom on an OM1, you just hold the lens and the body is along for the ride.

I find the CV 40/1.4 Nokton the fastest and most useful lens that the CL can handle, given its small rangefinder baselength.
