I have a Summicron 35/2, non asph, built in 1970. I am looking for a long time now for a "sun shade" (or maybe you call it a lens hood, I am not sure what is the right name in english).

But nothing can screw on those lenses, so the classic e-bay hood do not work for me.

Do you have any idea of where I could find something that does not cost 100$?

Thanks

Benoît

The leica hood number is 12585. It is a vented hood that clips on. They are frequently found on eBay between $60-$80. There are some Asian made screw-on copies of the vented hood (also on eBay) for much less money. Both of them keep the sun off of the lens and that's the point anyway.

Two very good hoods are usually found on ebay. One is the vented 12585H and I don't recall the number of the other but they are marked 35mm and 50mm. Both are clip-on originals.

Nice to see you here on the RFf cazasco! This is my lenshood, it click right on the lens. No idea how much it is, I got it with the lens:

Then the 12504 is a better choice than the 12585 because the front part of the 12504 unscrews and there's a place to inset a Series-VII filter.

If you are on a budget you can either spray paint aluminum foil black and wrap yuor lens with that or find a motion picture industry lighting supply house and find "black wrap" and use that to form a hood for your lens. Neither will be as convenient as purchasing a proper hood, but your lens will never know the difference if all you are trying to do is take a good picture without flare. Panavision lenses are treated this way often enough where you shouldnt feel awkward offering the same treatment to lowly leica glass 🙂 Its a good and easy solution to the problem while you save for a proper hood.

What is the correct hood for the collapsible 50 f2 cron? What is the Leitz code word [cone of silence activated]
