Which is smaller mounted on camera? Current Elmar-M 50/2.8 (collapsed), current Elmarit 28/2.8 ASPH, or the CV 28/3.5? I'm assuming it goes CV, Elmar, Elmarit, with the Elmar being the largest when it is expanded.

If anyone wants to give me a measurement of the CV's length, that would be great.

Thanks.

I don't use the shade on my Elmar-M, and I have no issues with it's ergonomics.

A simply wonderful lens in my opinion, and f/2.8 is fast enough for most general photography - mine lives on my M3 practically.

Actually, I believe the 16mm f/8 Hologon would be the "smallest," probably followed by the Canon 28mm f/3.5 (or f/2.8)

What does two or three millimeters matter?....unless of course - you are into limbo dancing! 😀

Millimeters don't really matter that much. I'm just curious. Measurements are available for the Leica lenses which I've looked up now, but am still curious about the CV.

Not too interested in the Canon, but in recently made lenses.

?
really?

I was just curious. If the CV is like an inch long, that sounds manageable. If its significantly shorter, I would imagine it could be tough for some to get fingers in there. I can't seem to find too much info about it on the net either in terms of size. I had to post in the CV forum to find out its filter size...

Hi,

the CV sticks from the body 27mm with shade, or about 20mm without the shade. BTW I like the little shade a lot - it keeps my fingers from touching the front element of the lens and I never once had to clean it in about a year.

Same here - and I have fingers like sausages!....now where's that Vernier gauge - for some precise measurements! 🙄
