Leica is well known for commemorative cameras, even for making TOO MANY of them.

Which commemorative Leica camera essentially shouted

"WE SAVED THE COMPANY" ??

Stephen

Commemorative that says "We Saved the Company"? The "Ein Stuck"? Or the yet-to-be-released affordable digital M commemorative miracle camera?

Would it be last week's model - the RFF commemorative M9, ful frame digital but with an optional film back, with a 50mm Noctilux , in a humidor type box for $2,499.99? :>)

The commemorative M4 2 2 should take the honors as the future company bail-out operation. As put above, a full-frame digital RF camera with interchangeable lenses, sold with a 50 Summitar (not Summarit, mind you), and the words "The Leica Saver" labeled on the body top, next to the SSN. The camera would come boxed in cardboard covered in red silk paper.

I think that's nice. :)

You didn't ask for M.

I would think it's this one (picture referenced to SG's website), when you look at R and parallel M4-2 sales, and the timing:

The R3 is not the most popular Leica (now), but back then sold well. The R3 and R4 sold much better than M4-2 and M4-P.

Roland.
