I am new to shooting with rangefinder cameras. I shoot mistly wide angle and sold a Bessa R2 and M6 to get a Bessa R4. Which rangefinder , if any is better suited to using 90mm and 135mm lenses?

The Leica M3, M6/7 (with x0.85 finder) or the Bessa R3A/M (1:1 finder) would be your best choices. Maybe a Bessa T, I think its finder is high magnification but you'll need an external finder. I don't know if the Bessa R3 has a 135 frame though, I suspect not due to its short baselength.

Bessa R3 has 90mm frames max - you will probably be best served by Leica M3, or, in my opinion, even better, by any good SLR - I personally don't like using RF's for fl over 50, 75mm at most.

What Mark said. Leica M3, or an M6 or M7 with a 0.85 mag VF is best. I use a 0.85 mag M7 for my 90 & 135mm lenses and it works very well. I also use a 1.25 magnifier on occasion and that bumps the mag of the M7 over 1. 🙂

Respect your opinion too, and agree with you for a 35/90 combo.
Question was what is best for 90/135.

I llike the rounded 50 lines. Better than the M[6p] 50 lines in any case.
Reminds me of old Ektachromes.

And you will hear only praise for the M2 from yours truly, as you know.

Felix: best is to play with them - like elsewhere in life, how a body feels
to you is highly subjective 🙂

Roland.
