Which M-75mm?

i'd try the 75mm heliar first, then upgrade to another lens if desired. you can get one in mint condition for $250-300 on ebay.

Thanks for all the tips again. I'm going for the Color Heliar and then I'll think about upgrading later, if I get the hang of 75mm....

PS - I think it's funny that this thread got moved to the "Leica M Series" when I finally decided to go for the Heliar... :)))

560 grams.
large and the long focus throw is a long slog around the barrel....I never did get the hang of focus on a moving subject...make them sit still and use a tripod, traded it after two years for an SWC, best move for me.

My experience also, plus the hood obstructed a large part of the frame in the viewfinder. Frankly I never found 75mm a useful focal length with film, and didn't buy another one until I got an M8. With the crop factor a 75 is the closest substitute for a 90. I picked up a bargain-grade Heliar for <$200 and have been enjoying it. At this point my next purchase (in a year or two) will be an M9, so I probably won't use a 75 after that, so I'm sticking with the Heliar.
