I have M3 and got a 35mm SUMMICRON with goggles for it. Now I plan to get another body with build in meter, and still want to use this lens. Do all Leica M mount cameras work with it, especially those third party ones, such as Hexar RF, ZI, Bessa?

Thanks,
Wenqing

M3 + 35mm Summicron with goggles

All other M bodies + 35mm Summicron WITHOUT goggles. Or any other 35mm lens for that matter.

Example: My Canon and Konica LTM 35mm lenes on my M5 camera bodies. They all work well together.

It will work on the M2, M3, the various variants of the M4 and M6, and I'm pretty sure it'll work on an M5. IT WILL NOT FOCUS CORRECTLY if you remove the goggles. The goggles introduce a lot of barrel distortion to your view through the finder and they also lower the contrast and make it more diffiicult to focus. The goggles were a way to avoid using a seperate finder with the M3, but it was a less than ideal solution.

Hadn't really thought about using it on anything else, but how would it work on any other M? The finder magnification is higher on the M3 than any other M camera.

Search. This has come up before.

As I recall, the goggles activate and alter the 50mm frame lines. I bet Stephen has this info on the CameraQuest pages.
