I've bought a IIIF with a Collap Cron 50 in MINT condition, I also have Summaron 35 3.5 e39 filter size and Elmar 50 2.8.

Well, I'm looking for a small and travel kit, two or three lenses max.

Which one would You recommend to keep or to buy?

Thanks!

The collapsible Summicron and the Summaron f/3.5 are an outstanding set. Don't forget finders, a SBLOO and a SBOOI.
Buy a Leica 12549 shade for the Summicron and a FOOKH for the Summaron and you're done.

Erik.
I would disagree in one way: I would add a 9cm Elmar and hood to this set. Then think "done". 🙂

You're right!

3 lenses kit and I will be happy!

I sold my whole M equipment (actually I'm selling), I would like to test myself with this little gem for at least all summer. In four weeks We are going to Morroco and I will test the "kit" and myself 🙂

Any suggestion¿? I love Erik pictures with that greyscale, maybe change trix for tmax would be nice?

Ah! A good pocket meter?

Thanks!

You already have one for travel 🙂

If I find a good and cheap 90 I will take it, if not I can live with 35 and 50, which is my most used lens for portraits and the 50/2 collap it's a fine performer 🙂

Would fit good the new Elmar 50-M last model hood on the Cron? seems to be they are the same number?

Ouch and another important question to me, what about UVa filters? old ones or new ones?

Cheers.

Yes, that is a great shade. You can put a lens cap on it, so your lens will be protected when not in use.

Don't care about filters. I've never used a filter in my life. Use just lens caps to protect the lenses. Connect the cap with a thin cord at your camera, so you will not lose it. Use a lens cap that fits all your lenses.

What do You think about the Summicron rigid and summicron 35 v1 on the barnack?

have you seen the ltm version of 35 cron asph and 50 lux pre asph?

The rigid and the 35mm Summicron v1 are great lenses, but the LTM-version of the rigid is very rare. The older versions of the 35mm Summicron sometimes have a factory installed screw-to-bayonet adapter. These lenses are of course great on the LTM Leicas.

I've never used the modern LTM-versions of the Summicron and Summilux lenses. I think they are too big and heavy on the screwmount Leicas. Personally I think that even the collapsible Summicron is too heavy on a Barnack. I prefer a very clean coated Summar or Elmar 50mm on them.

Thanks Erik.

A summar? Is not worse than the Cron?

So when You need bigger apertures?

A coated Summar in good condition is a great lens and also f/2.

When I need faster lenses I use my M equipment.

Leica IIIc, Summar 50mm f/2, Tmax400.

thanks 🙂

I can't wait tomorrow, when I receive my IIIF and Collap Cron.

Can't find the hood for Summaron 35 e39, any advice?

Maybe I will sel the Cron and get a Summar, the less the more 🙂
