Which P&S for low light subway shooting?

It's not exactly a P&S, but I have had good luck with a Kiev 4 in the NYC subways. Mine has a decently bright viewfinder/rangefinder and ths shutter is quiet. Shutter vibration is low enough that I can hand-hold the camera down to about 1/25. That is slow enough that I can even shoot with Plus-X in some stations.
 
Makes sense that your Kiev would work, since Walker Evans used a concealed Contax for his subway shots. ;)
