Which scanner will scan film easly & well

its all out of my price range
ill go on with the slide copier and my sony NEX,until the Sony RX2 comes out as a budget A7 without a veiwfinder

The idea was to scan & print when traveling darkroom when at home

I have the Epson V700, it can scan 24 negs, or 12 slides at one time.
Just go through the Epson Scan software for a few image adjustments per neg/slide,
then scan.... a fast computer can scan 12 slides at 3000dpi in about 10min.. (i7 4700 with 12g RAM)
So 24 negs about 20-25min

Results are good. plenty for up to 16x20 prints.

What's wrong with a Plustek 8100? I often use it rather than the Pakon just because it is very portable and it gives me bigger files. I sit and watch TV whilst scanning.

And its found in europe "digixo"in France always has the highest "discount" price which is 240€ next most expensive has it in stock and inc delivery is 222€ FNACis 250€

Yes in europe, almost affordable:rolleyes: It is a bit slow and i would have to cut and load film strips in their holder but since i now travel with a full size printer since my excellent canon i90 gave up

Which is the BEST budget printer to copy scans:eek:

Alternative approach:

Leitz BEOON, choice of your mirrorless body and whatever M/LTM 50mm you have. Quick "grain check" using camera's LCD (or supplied grain checker if you are scanning with M8/M9/R-D1) and shoot away. You can scan an entire roll of 35mm film in a few minutes or less.

Scanned with BEOON, X-E1 and Lux 50 ASPH.

Reflekta RPS 10M, works with Vuescan and Silverfast too and scans also a whole film at once, has also higher resolution than the Pakon and its much more precise in framing.

A friend of mine has it and scans a whole roll with 5000dpi (around 4000 in real) in around 3,5 hours fully automated.

Nice photo, Pete B!

Hey thanks. I was a bit stung when I bought an eBay 28 summicron which arrived with the front ring falling off. We agreed a partial refund and it went away for a year. When it returned, I'd settled into using 21, 35, 50 so didn't use the 28 for another year. This was its first real outing. I'm so pleased with it I might have a year of using it coupled with the 50.

...
The epson is im sure good but their printers and scanners have all been VERY expensive and more to run:eek: And work in a way that gets them more profit than customer satisfaction

It looks as if using an enlarger regularly would still be far faster.with pre mixed chemicals i could print 20/30 good prints in the time it would take to scan three films??
....

Sorry, but it smells like double .. to me.
My V500 was 175CAD new with warranty. And printing under enlarger is nowhere near flatbed which does it by 12 frames in minutes, not hours.

149.99 for 135 format scanner.

I mainly shoot colour negatives and I scan with a PlusTek 7200, paid 60$ second hand last year. As suggested in previews posts, you may look for 7400, 7600(i), 8200(i) or newer models. The "i" versions seem to have dust removal.

My 7200 works well with VueScan. It scans easily and well as you wanted.
My only complain: The Dmax value is a bit low (3.2) for today's standard. But I'd shoot a Nikon D800 if I want max dynamic range.

I don't suggest anyone shooting the films with digital cameras unless you shoot black and white only.

BEOON on ebay both are 500€ they cost $300 NEW

Why is it better than another good quality slide copier?

I bought for 5€ a large format slide copier which dose 35mm has double bellows back lighting for the slide/negative and even a polaroid option

As with the Beoon i have to copy one by one

Great picture---i hope the French get the local steam train going again been shut down for about 5 years now, used to be full for every trip
