Which system combo for beach vacation?

Any water proof camera is only as good as the condition of its seals. If they are worn or old, the camera may flood. Even fresh seals can fail if they are not perfectly clean when the camera is closed. Perfectly clean = not even a single grain of sand.

There are a whole bunch of flooded/ruined Nikonos cameras on ebay.. Clue #1 is if they say 'untested'. Clue #2 is to check pics of the inside of the camera, any signs of corrosion means it is done. Clue #3 is if they don't post pics of the inside of the camera.

But, if you are only staying topside, not actually going into the water, then u should be ok.

A fellow stopped into my shop the other day, on the way to a beach weekend. With his film BP-MP & 1.4 Summilux slung over his shoulder.
My kind of guy.

Another version of the same Canon 35mm waterproof camera is model A-1.
Results are quite good for a point & shoot.

I also own a Nikonos V and recommend it highly.
The 35/2.5 lens works equally well above and under water.

So the "weathersealed" eos 1v w 16-35 + 6d w one of my other sealed lenses wouldn't offer enough protection against sand? I don't plan to go into the water with it. Sand is more my concern. I also have a number of old Pentax cameras I've collected over the years and an Olympus sp I could use instead.... I have so much stuff, I'd rather not buy any more.
