Well, I have hit a crossroads in which I can no longer keep all my cameras due to the interest of finances and space. So I have to decide what to keep and what to sell...

I have an M3 (>1 mil SN)
M6 Classic
M7
M8

I don't really shoot my Leicas as much as I would like due to many of my assignments requiring the flexibility of an SLR so I find I use my Canons a lot more.

I agree with Carl that the M8 and M7 work together. So, if you want digital, keep those two. If not, keep the M3 and the M6. They too make a great pair (50 and longer on the M3, 35 and wider on the M6). Personally, I'd take door number two, especially when you factor in the lenses that you could buy after having sold the M7 and M8! 😀

What sort of assignments that demand SLRs?

(Not denying the validity of your question, just hoping for more information on where you are coming from).

Cheers,

if u don't shoot the m8 sell the m8.
It's the one that has the most $ sunk into, it's the one that will lose its value the fastest, it's the one that has a chance to be followed by an improved version if u ever want to go back to M's.

And maybe sell the m6 too, or the m7, depending on how you like mechanic versus electronic.

Sell the M8. It'll loose the most value the moment a new digital Leica comes out. I think I would also sell the M6, and keep the M3 and M7. If you need to shoot digital you have Canon gear you can use.

Of late I've been given a lot of sports assignments, more specifically rugby. I really need the telephoto and AF for that. I was regularly using a 200 mm with a 1.4x teleconverter.

Good point. I shoot the M8, but many times I think I force myself to use it, rather than it being my default. I love the M8, but for what I do I think I would be better off with my canons.

So it's settled. I'm going to keep my M3 and M7.

Sell the M8 as you do not use it. It will lose value the fastest. The M6 Classic is still drawing a good price, so keep the M3 and M7. The M3 with SN >1M will hold value or go up as long as the VF/RF is good. The M7 is probably at a low-point with the M8 being out and the MP being favored by traditional film users.

TWO Noctiluxes? Oh man, I just want to get my hands on one of those gems.

Yeah I tend to over do it. It's not just with cameras either. You should see the dilemma I have to wade through in reducing my guitar collection....

I have no self control sometimes :bang:

Keep the 3 and the 6. I don't believe the 8 will hold it's value long term as with all digital cameras. The 3 is a classic and the 6 is just plain great to use.
