Which Zuiko you would let go?

So I was stoked when I got the Zuiko 28mm 1:2 yesterday. Totally unplanned, a bit of a gamble really.

Today I face a dilemma. Now I have two Zuiko lenses 24mm and 28mm.

Both has f/2 max aperture.

No way I can afford keeping both. One has to go.
I think I know which one I'll keep, but just curious, in the same situation, which one would *you* let go?

NOTE: Just realize that the 24mm is quite a bit bigger than the 28mm.

If you have something like a 35mm already I'd go with the 24mm, if you don't I'd stick with the 28.

I did this drill once. I kept the 2/28 and added a 2/21. Two of my top 4 lenses I use on the 5Dii include the zuiko 2/28, 2/21, and 2/100.
I found the 2/28 to be as worthy as the Zeiss "Hollywood" Distagon and much more usable in terms of handling.
The 24 is a sweet lens as well but I chose the 28 for size and my personal use preference.
You can't lose with either of these lenses.

I have both focal lengths for my OM camera and find the 24mm far more useful and used more often.

The 24/2 has a 55mm filter ring, and the 28/2 has a 49mm filter ring. That may be a factor in deciding which one you keep, or it may not.

I have both lenses, and think both of them are great. That's no help, I know, but it does mean no matter which you keep you made the right choice.

This is just my personal bias, but I have a liking for the 24mm field of view and less liking for 28mm (in general; despite having some 28mm lenses I really like). That's just a vague preference, though, and I don't have personal experience with either of your lenses.

I prefer the 24mm...
If I buy a wide angle for the Canon A-1 I want a 24mm or wider...I've had chances to get a 28mm but have passed so far...

the 28 is a better performer.

ultimately you can choose between a 24 that has speed going for it, or a 28 that has everything going for it. if focal length doesnt matter, keeping the 28 is a no brainer.

I wish I'd kept the 24/2.8 I had years ago - that was an excellent performer. A 28 is a better companion to a 50mm. I'd keep the 24, to go with my 35mm.

Neither. No matter how much you need to scrimp to get by, if that is your current situation, you can do it. You'll end up selling one, and then a month, six months, maybe a year or two down the track you'll wish you never did as you balk at the prices now being asked for them. Thanks to CSCs OM lenses are in high demand and I don't see that changing.

I would test the 28. If it's good, I would let the 24 go.

But then I'm biased. Haven't shot anything wider than 28 in years. Anything wider always looked like lens tests to me 🙂

I did this drill once. I kept the 2/28 and added a 2/21.

I did the opposite of Sunshine. I got 21 and 28mm lenses as part of my original Olympus outfit in 1979. Later, I got a 24 and carried all three. I soon found that I was using the 24 a great deal and the other two not at all, so they went on the shelf and from that point on I carried only the 24 unless I knew going in to a job that I would need something wider.

In my case I have 28/2.8 and 24/2.8

I love them both but rarely use the 24 since it's just on the edge of too wide for me. It is razor sharp and has great contrast and color rendition.

All that said, I would keep the 28/2 and sell off the 24/2 and get a 24/2.8 for the rare times that I want 24mm.

I would keep the 28mm, but that is because I'd prefer 28mm + 21mm. Actually I love 50mm, 35mm, and to a lesser extent 28mm and 21mm. Never wanted a 24mm haha but that is just me.

Only you can decide which focal length you prefer. I would keep both at least long enough to try them both out. I would want to keep both, but that is because I sort of 'see' wide. I have 28mm, 24mm, and 18mm, and use them all depending on what the photo I want seems to best require. Good luck in your decision.
