Hi,
I'm pretty new around here, but I thought I'd share an online book I made recently. It's a collection of photographs taken with my trusty old Leica M6, all with either a 50 or 30 'cron on Portra 160 NC & VC. I figured someone might enjoy it. It's free and available for viewing here: http://www.marius-rustad.com/book/

(It's made in Flash so no iPad support.. sorry)

Enjoy!

It s lunch time here and I haven't time to go through all the book. But what I have seen untill now is very good. I specially like the Skagen photos. I'll go back in the afternoon to see more. Cheers

I'm glad you posted this. Great work. I love the clean design and the way you write. They compliment each other and the photographs well. This is all very well done. Cheers to you!

By the way, how many lpmm do you think that 35 'cron can render? I just want to make sure I have the latest and greatest if I'm going to buy something. Thought I might remortgage the house and pick up a couple of M9-Ps while I was at it. :D

Good book, congratulations!

If I may offer an unsolicited suggestion: Edit out shots with people in it (maybe save those for your next book). This book has a very consistent theme of 'emptiness with impact', the presence of people destroys the flow of that theme.

Other than that, the shot "Bouquet" wins a personal award from me to you :)

Thank you for all your nice comments, highly appreciated it. I'll try to answer your questions:

Ha ha ha.. I think it's.. like.. a gazillion.. yeah.. it's like beyond reality.. it's so high a value that it isn't even possible to calculate using human science.. I actually think that the focus tab on my 'cron controls the rotation of the earth while the aperture ring sets the amount of newborn photographic talents per day. One would belive I primarily used a Noctilux .95 shot wide open ;-)

I like flash player solution too. is it some generic software, or ?

It's a tweaked version of this: http://pageflip.hu/

What software did you use to make this on-line version?

See above :)

I appreciate your suggestion. As a matter of fact, I went through a couple of rounds with myself, debating whether to include the pictures with the girl, or not. It's the same girl in all three pictures. You make a good point though, and I agree to a certain point, but there are other ways to look at it as well.. Some days I feel that it messes up the flow like you said.. other days I find that they bring a sense of tension.. making the viewer stop and think. There are several red lines in this book that might be hard to spot at first view, but it's like I wrote in the epilogue.. every photo in this book has meaning ;)

Good job. Any plans to make it available print-on-demand?

While I appreciate the fact that new technology has made it possible to easily create physical books at low cost and in smaller editions, I must be honest and say that the quality of these books are still not up to my standards. I have seen a few decent ones from Blurb, but it's just not there yet. That being said, I think print-on-demand is a great thing and I have high hopes for it in the future. As for now, I will stick to the traditional way of making books. "While you weren't looking" is not set for release, but I do have have a couple of projects I'm working on that hopefully will end up as "real" books.

If anyone has any other questions, feel free to ask and I'll try to answer to the best of my ability.
