Just curious -
Who do you show your photographs to?
Whose opinions/comments on your photos do you value most?

you guys
anyone who looks at flickr
while i like hearing positives about my photos - i take/make them for me mostly - that being said, the most impact comes from those i consider to be good photographers themselves and those who seem to be good at recognizing good shots

Anybody whom enters my house. I have roughly 500 framed pictures, all my own, hanging on my walls. Every room has it's theme which relates to scenes I enjoy taking. Occasionally I change them, but mostly I add. Some rooms have become pretty crowded by now.
These 500 pictures have accumulated over a period of 30 years of photography.
The rest are kept in archives, the ones worth to keep that is.
My cleaning lady always complains about the dust the frames gather ....

Friends & family mostly.
Most comments about the pics are about the location or subject and less about the photo itself. But if someone can speak about the actual photo itself, then that's the comment I value most.

I hang mine on the wall and if a client comments on a photo that's good. Otherwise I rotate another photo into that space.

Wow! Do you have pictures of your pictures as well? I mean, I'd like to see some examples of these themed rooms...

Strangely about half the people I know are professional photographers and I shamelessly show them my amateur efforts, they are always gracious and only later do I wonder why the hell I did that.

Random Flickr viewers and those on a couple forums I frequent. Mostly my friends and family couldn't care less; unless they're in them.
Then they get upset if they don't look good.

Like some of you, I post my photos on Flickr to share them with anyone who cares to take a look.
My friends and family don't care about photography. They might be interested in some of my photos because they show people they know about, or some experience they are involved in.
The opinions I value most comes from photographers like you, who understand the elements of a good photograph versus those of a bad one. But why should this taste dominates over that of the general public? Afterall, photographers make up less than 5% of the world's population, probably much less.

For my personal photoblog, I have four viewers: my brother, my sister, and two friends who are into photography. I also put some of my phlog images into flickr (not sure why) and get a few random views.
I never mention to any of my other friends or relatives that I have a phlog. I don't feel like explaining why many of my pictures are not pretty like a postcard. I'm sure most of them would ask me, "but why do you take pictures of boring things like walmart?" (a question to which I don't have a ready answer). Even my wife wonders why. I don't try to explain, I just tell her I was testing my camera.

That's like asking why Beethoven is better than Christina Aguilera, even if Aguilera sells millions more CDs. Or if Vermeers is better than Thomas Kinkade. And so on.
