who do you shoot for?

My first and usual answer is "for pleasure, for myself," but currently I am mainly putting my energies into portraits and model shots, so really for me and the sitter (who is most of the time a collaborator).

I really like everything about photography. I like the gear, I like digital, I like film and it's a fun pass time. I've also gotten my father into the hobby. He has fun finding old rangefinders for $5.00 for me, so thats another part of the hobby too, and I get to play with a new old camera from time to time. It's all good. So I guess I shoot for me, and for my wife who approves taking a lot of pictures of our daughters.

I like to document what is happening around me. The neighborhoods I frequent, my social circles, my holidays.
I realized that I had virtually no images of the years from my teens (when I became surly and didn't to be in photos) until my mid-20s (when I became a professional photographer) and it saddened me.
Now friends are starting to get sick of me shooting photos of every little get-together and event, but I firmly believe they will thank me for it one day!
I also really enjoy the feedback I get from RFF and that's why I like to post in the gallery here as opposed to other places.
 
i shoot for me and for posterity's sake ... i use to shot for myself, but ever since my daughter arrived in my life, I'm more motivated to shoot AND create prints so that she can enjoy something tangible that I created that offers her a glimpse of the places and people i've crossed paths with
