Who Does CLA on Canon lenses?

I received a black Canon 100/3.5 in the mail, and despite that the auction said it was "free from fogging" there is significant fogging on internal elements.

Depending on the price of a cleaning and whether the seller will offer any remittance, I'd likely prefer to have the lens cleaned rather than try to return it.

I've hear Dag and Sherry Krauter most often recommended for Leica M and lens CLAs. Any recommendations for a CLA on a Canon lens? I'm sure it's not as complicated as repairing a Leica M, so I'm guessing there are some other people out there.

DAG did mine, it had heavy fungus. fast turnaround and affordable. no regrets. came out exactly like new.
i bought the FL version, it was about like yours, and did it myself. it came out OK but i had a speck of dust on an inner element when i was done. pretty simple lens.

Sherry Krauter just did an oily bladed stiff focusing 35mm f2.8 chrome Serenar for me. Works like it should now. Prompt service. Fair price.

I'm sure it's not as complicated as repairing a Leica M, so I'm guessing there are some other people out there.

I think complex or not, a good mechanic is a good mechanic.

Very true. I also wasn't sure how cross compatible the skills were.

Can you give a ballpark idea of what yours cost as it sounds about as complex as mine. Does prompt mean a week, two weeks?

I asked some one else about cleaning a Vogitlander 35f.4 in California and they wanted $135 to clean it. I have not sent it off.

Last week I brought my Canon 50mm 1.5 to Marty's Camera Repair in Forest Hills, New York. Lots of oil on the blades and some got on an internal element, looked pretty bad. He made it look like new, took two days, cost $50.

I have been sending my lenses to Eddy Smolov. He does a good job and he charges a very fair price.

Hi Chris,

I've had many experiences of 'optically clean' lenses that had all sorts of goop inside it. From the looks of it, yours should be easy to clean. I'm not so lucky with my lot...

But if you do get yours sorted, you'll find this to be a great lens! It's one of my all time favorite!
