Hi,
My set consist of
- M6TTL Millenium body
- 50mm f1.4 pre-asph Black Paint
- 35mm f2 ASPH black paint
My set is with matching last 4 digits for body and lenses. The set number is 1578. Bought this set in 2001 brand new from a local shop. All items remain like new as I have not run any roll of film on the body. Both lenses have not mounted on any body since day one.
My M6TTL Millenium family photo is here
Cheers!

Can't make up my mind whether to sell my Millennium or not - I'm finding I baby it too much these days, and was thinking about picking-up an M2 again instead. But so few of them change hands, it's impossible to judge what sort of price they're actually fetching. Anyone has a good idea for a mint- body with all the papers and boxes - the average ebay price seems to be around $3500 for the (high-priced?) unsold items out there at the moment, but is that price realistic?
Think if I don't sell it I'll stick a black dot on it - the red dot looks kind of brash on an otherwise totally black camera imo.

Hey Mani
Aperture UK had a Millennium for sale not long ago in mint with box and papers. Took forever to sell. I think (not entirely sure) it was priced at about 1800£ (no lenses included of course). That seems to have been a wee bit on the high end actually.
I did what you're suggesting, added a black dot as part of having the MP viewfinder upgrade done in Solms. I bought it in mint condition a few years ago (boxes and papers) with the intention of using it. Here's how it looks these days, scratched and brassed (bottom plate is much worse even).

Yes, I would say £1800 on the high end. It's one of those classic sod's law things – if you were looking to buy a mint Millennium you'd probably happily pay £2000 or more but in the current market nobody seems to be buying.

Thx fellow LUFers!
In that case I'll probably just keep it. Might be worth something in a hundred years - if I live that long.
PS: ought to mention that I do use it - just been lucky (or cursed) not to have scratched, dented or worn it so far.

What would a fair price be?

Body only in original condition, with the box, about $3500 USD. Then the extra cost for the finder upgrade to MP standards. Factory upgrade includes multicoated windows and a shutter rebuild upgrading the seals to the latest standards. Add a bit more for that work.

Not sure where you're located but Ffordes has a complete Millennium kit if you need the 35/2 and 50/1.4 lenses.
In Europe it is possible to find black paint MPs in good condition for about 2400€ (Meister Hamburg has one for instance). I've seen them for less too.

I'm still considering selling mine - watch the RFF classifieds if you're interested, and take a look at my feedback beforehand. I'll probably wait for the holiday season to be over before putting it out - sending items during this season is asking for trouble.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm located in Singapore. I'd been wanting to try film and looking forward to new learning curve. I'm looking for body only since I already have 28 summicron, 35 summaron 2.8, and 50 lux.
MP is nice, but I always like M4-P and M6. I'm not sure why but Leica price here is particularly on the high side. I have seen new MP in store, very nice but very expensive. If I do sell my M9-P, i probably add a second film camera later on. Maybe I will email Sherry to enquire on M6 TTL.

Finally decided to sell the Millennium. It's the world's most beautiful camera, but I was simply babying it too much for what's intended as a user. Take a look here. (I removed the url as it's no longer relevant)

Heads-up in case anyone is interested: I reduced the price to what feels like a reasonable minimum. If it doesn't sell at this price I'll probably just keep hold of it.

Sounds a bit cheap to me, Mani. If it didn't replicate the functionality of what I've already got, I'd buy it from you at that price. I've found during the last year that it pays to stick to your gut instinct about price and be patient when it comes to selling Leica gear. It's no longer like it was around 2011 when you could sell something within hours of posting something for sale. It now takes weeks or even months but buyers do eventually turn up.
