I posted something about this in the travel section in the thread marked "Guatemala".

Anyway, I am presently in Xela, Guatemala, studying Spanish. Last week about a half dozen students from the school were visiting a women's cooperative which promotes weaving. I am taking some pictures with the X100 when one of the other students pulls a Blad 500C/M out of her bag.

It was love at first sight as I quickly pulled the M2 out of mine. It turns out she lives in NYC (she said the same building as David Alan Harvey), loves film, and is a Yale law school graduate. We talked cameras for the next few days and then I loaned her my M2 for an afternoon.

From her comments, I am sure she will be checking this forum regularly and I know she is looking for an M body and a 35mm lens. Apparently, she found all the minutia on the web about the differences among M models very confusing.

So, who else has converted a pagan to the Leica religion?😉

I think I have. Didn't have to work at it either, although it would help if we had pamphlets....

A friend of my wife's is a natural of photography. The other night we all went to the opening for the local photographic arts guild show and I brought along an M8 to try another round of low-light experimentation. I pulled my camera from the bag and made a couple shots when I noticed our friend, eyes wide as saucers and with continuous questions for the remainder of the evening. He had the innate ability to focus and compose with a rangefinder (and he has used nothing but a Canon DSLR for years). I was afraid he wouldn't let go of my camera as I requested it back when it was time to go home. I predict another Leica sale in the near future... Learning the expense of Leica made only for a hesitation, I doubt it will be a hindrance.
