Who has the best prices on film in the USA?

Vista 200...what other films would you compare it to?

I always thought that Agfa Vista 200 compared to Kodak Gold 200 (consumer) but slightly cooler - less punchy in the greens and reds. But I'm color-blind, others may say something else and they'd be more likely right than me.

But at around a buck a roll, and good quality and scanned well - I wasn't complaining. Bought a big sack of the stuff last time they had a 4-pack sale - they keep having sales on and off, but there is less and less of it available, since it was Agfa and Agfa is gone now.

Wow! I've heard a lot about the Agfa Vista, but I've never actually seen it before. We don't have Walgreens in Hawaii! :|

Yes, flipflop.

And Bill's recommended sites are one's I'd also recommend, and again, some have better deals than others. I typically buy from freestyle simply because they send me their catalog, but J&C is good, too.

"buck a roll." I like the sound of that phrase.

If you are looking for comsumer print film I would try checking dollar store type places and drug store chains in your area. I have been able to get Kodak Max and Konica/Minolta 200VX at $1 a roll. Some store brands can be good also, as has been pointed out before.

About 6 months ago I started bulkloading. For instance Freestyle has a special on some past date Arista Pro 50, $13 for a 100 ft roll. Aristia EDU 100 is $20 for 100 ft.

Bulk loading is cool for B&W, and I should mention that there is a website called "Mega Perls" that folks here speak well of that sells 100 ft rolls, although I have no experience with them.

Less good for C41, unless you a) process C41 yourself or b) don't mind not getting your reloadable cassettes back afterwards.

I have seen some prices for bulk film that would make it worth my while to roll my own - other times, it is so close, I'd rather pay a little more and get it already rolled. But it is definitely something to consider.

I picked up some of that walgreens stuff last friday at the only walgreens local to me and shot a couple rolls on the weekend. Getting developed now, to be picked up later this week. Hopefully choice of chemicals (fuji stuff) won't mess anything up.

Walmart may still have their vista 200 version of the film, too, I think it's labled as polaroid brand.

Someone compared it to K's Gold 200... I tried some of that a few weeks ago. Nice for 4x6, but becomes grainy for anything higher.

Yes, the Polaroid brand from Walmart is also Agfa Vista 200.

I compared it to Kodak Gold 200, which I like. I haven't seen the grain problem you mention, but I scan instead of having larger 'traditional' prints made - I upload my scanned negs to MPIX if I want to print large - so far, they have been fine. But your milage may vary!

The C41 chemistry used should not matter - at least I've noticed no difference.
