I'm happy to get a couple of frames worth printing per roll.
I prefer 24-exposure rolls which increases that % just a bit...

Yeah, it always strikes me as weird that some think that photography is target practice. It isn't like museums or galleries (or any other place that shows photos) will put an accuracy disclaimer on any photo... nope, they just show the great photos.

What do you call someone who only hits 3 for 10? A hall of famer (because hitting .300 in the majors is exceptional).

Nobody ever thinks of the percentage like that... it also reminds me of one hit wonders in the popular music world... it is incredibly hard to accomplish, yet one hit wonders are ridiculed (quality of the music aside).

Perhaps I do not see Life so black & white .., ( excuse the pun)
there are all the nuances of greys and / or color in between that You
are not seeing

Both baseball and Photography Require:

A Good Eye / be it seeing the Image or the Ball coming at You

A Good Hand. / able to hit that ball with a Bat & slam a home run or catch that ball and their out

Or maneuver your Dials , Aperture Ring and Shutter in that Decisive Moment

Moot point. The point is your striving for success or trying to avoid failure.

Most of us can avoid failure, if that is our objective, and create 98 out of 100 photos that are properly exposed, focused, composed yet have no photos that really elicit emotion.

Some of us strive for those very few photos that really move the viewer and are willing to accept that 98 out of 100 are stinkers deserving to be destined for the bin.

If HCB actually said that, it's too simplistic and just plain wrong.

Moot point. The point is your striving for success or trying to avoid failure.
