who is done? and how do you know?

No, I love it. But I'm going to eventually want a portrait lens that's sharper wide open...thus a 90 'cron or Elmarit. That won't be for quite a while, though. I won't be letting go of my J-3 or J-12 either...just adding to them.

I have fits of "camera fever" but usually they pass in a couple of days. I've got a new (to me) LC-A on it's way to replace my old one but aside from that I'm content.

. . . At least until they make a fast, fixed lens 35mm (equiv.) digi P&S with sensible controls for under $400. Water/shock proof like those new Olympus ones would be nice. Basically, a digital version of a cross between a Contax T2 and Stylus Epic. Is that too much to ask?

I am only 40, I am far from done.

LOL! Strange that anyone would relate age to the acquisition of camera gear. I have been using Leica for exactly one week. I guess I am a new born, ha-ha!

Ahhh...living and working as a photographer high in the Colorado Rockies. What a perfect place for a Lieca!

........................wink, wink!

P.S. What is the going rate on a good used 50mm 1.4 Summilux Aspheric?

the main indicator of not being done is thinking about what to get all the time, so i'd say you're done when you don't think about it unless you have to.

I don't post much, but I visit and read every day. Just the same as my continual searching and studying of gear, even if that search does not end in a purchase... Learning about equipment never stops, so in that I can say I am Never Done.

Done. *

*Done unless I come into hideous sums of cash. I’m happy with what I have and what I want is currently quite unaffordable. I have a Nikon S3 with 35/50/105 lenses, a Canonet QL17 G-III and a Yashica GS. Once I solve the light leak on the Yashica, it’s up for sale. However, if the hideous amount of cash showed up I’d love the following:
Nikon SP body.
Leica M8 and glass in focal lengths equivalent to my current Nikon setup.
Nikon digital SLR (D80 would be fine) and an assortment of nice glass.
Since this is all theoretical and unlikely anyhow 😉, a Nikon S-mount digital rangefinder.

**Everything I've stated above is subject to change at a moments notice. 🙂

done. rf gear's set with two bodies, one metered and one not. an elmar that stays on the m4, with a 90 that goes along for the ride in a little bag with a twinmate meter. hangs by the door. a fast 35, 50, and 75 with the other body in a second bag.

digi stuff is a couple of generations old and suits me real well (as film-like as digi can be)

clam-happy i am

Stephanie, you've made me a very proud Papa! (I think my eyes are tearing up.) 🙂

Always trying to make my elders proud. 😉

I can't say, though, that I won't take after you and have my house filled with 50mm lenses. I like 50mm lenses. They're pretty. They're the perfect focal length. The come in all sizes and shapes and speeds...my precious...

Ahem. Yes. Back to how I said I wasn't going to buy anything else...

It is a defense against GAS as well as acceptance of the condition. I have a long time to go, no need to feel the need to stop something I enjoy, and no rush to get everything at once. A little here, a little there, just enough to keep me interested.

I thought I was done (related to gear), but it was just a case of lying to myself as I´m aware Í won´t be done until I get all the Contax stuff I want.

And once I got all this, what´s next?
