I also like records rather than CDs. I still keeping ths records, although my turntable has out of order for many years. To me, I don't think the sound has much differences with the CD.

I once recorded Carmen from a Met broadcast via a local NPR FM station, through a Bogen tube receiver, using a fairly pedestrian Teac cassette deck. It is a wonderful tape ... it's around here somewhere, as soon as I find it it's going into the car for the trip to Lake Superior.

I use my Teac set-up which is solid state(sorry, no tubes) and has turntable, CD player, Cassette player and AM/FM receiver. I can compare CD's and Vinyl of the same recording. Of course the CD has been enhanced. I like my Brubeck and other 50's jazz on vinyl better. Just has that mellow sound.
Ya, vinyl goes with my old Nikons, Yashicas, Mamiyas and Rollei's. Also with my 1948 Farmall, 1950 Cessna, 1938 Old Town, and a bunch of other old things I love. (I'm old too, I guess, don't care!)

Wes: North Cackalacky is the Reverend Billy C Wirtz' personal pronunciation of North Carolina (or at least that was who I first heard say it years ago); so your offer certainly isn't outside the realm of possibility for being accepted. This is especially the case now that a close friend of mine & his wife are moving to NYC. So prepare your ears for some of the most decadent rock n roll put on wax.
Kyle: I don't think I've ever even heard Hot Water Music, or if I have I wouldn't recognize one song as theirs I'm afraid. They're just one of those bands where I've always known their name but not their music. Some friends here in NC have a band & the second guitarist has worn one or two of their shirts to many of their shows. I've photographed most of the shows they've played around here over the past 2 years & so I have more than a few shots with that shirt which features your avatar on the back if memory serves correctly. I have better pictures of Brent wearing this shirt, but they're not on this computer.

Shops local
So Zulu records had a big sale and I picked up some goodies:
Steely Dan, Aja
Police, Zenyatta Mondatta
Shriekback, The Infinite (reissue)
Bauhuas, Burning From The Inside
Matt Johnson. Burning Blue Soul (reissue)
Miles Davis, Live At Carnegie Hall
Flaming Lips, At War With The Mystics (new)
Stereolab, Serene Velocity (new)
The used LPs are in pretty good shape but could use some cleaning. Any tips for cleaning vinyl and the stylus? I tried my Saunders anit-static brush and it seemed to help a little. Is it the same thing as the carbon fibre brushes on some of the audio websites?
I know I really should be posting this on some audiophile forum but I trust You guys!
