Chris, Colyn, bcostin, monochromejml -- Very nice images! I think we should stop saying this lens is underappreciated....
Sounds like a winner to me....

Yes, perhaps I was wrong. This lens seems very appreciated!

im sure the canon is better by default becasue of its size alone.
the CV sure is a large one
Indeed, the CV is massive. But it's the results that really matter, and I went back to the Serenar. It just looked better - to me.

Yes great pics! It's a great lens.....I like it (wehn people are astonischen: great typing error!) when people are bewildered realizing that the weight of a Bessa R+ Serenar (chroium)combo is mainly the lens!

Yes, it is appreciated by we few, and perhaps we're selling this to others out there -- but it's like the late Rodney Dangerfield - it gets no respect. Summicron snobs. If I had one, I'd be a snob too, come to think of it.

nice photos, but why does it seem that lately people are uploading huge files. I hate scrolling around my screen to see your images.
That is certainly not my opinon, i.e. I like these files so we can better judge the performance of lens and photog!

The only enemy to the 50/1.8 in my bag, Jim, is the 50/1.4. These days, in black & chrome, they are almost the same price.
Cheers,
Roland.

I mistakenly placed a photo in the thread for 35/2.8 and I should have placed the photo in this thread for the Canon 50/1.8 SM which I love. I have also added a Nikon 50/1.4 SM and I really can't tell the difference.

An Undesirable
The Canon 50mm f1.8 was my first RF lens, I've since bought a CZ Planar which resides either on my M6 TTL or the M8....but the Canon 50mm is always on my old 'classic' M6 which I use as my 'carry everywhere.' Despite now being quite beaten up looking and dinted all over that combination probably gets used more than any other RF combo by me simply because I do carry it everywhere.
It's a great lens, especially if your photography is more than just shooting line tests

I hear that. The 1.4 cost me more but gets less use. The all chrome 1.8 just goes with the M2 like they were made for each other. The 1.4 is hooked up to my Canon P when I want a 50, but the 35/1.7 Ultron gets used most on the Canon P. I need to use more of these great lenses that I have! The Jupiter 8 needs to come out and play. A great Sonnar 50/2.0.
Sorry-- I seem to have meandered from the point here, and just went lens-nuts. I only hope I don't find a Canon 50/1.5 that I can buy or I'll be in a real fix!
The 50/1.8 is a beauty of a lens. Leave it at that.

If you have to scroll, then your screen is old or set to low resolution. I'm sure you're not the only one to be trumped by ever advancing technology.

Just noticed this. Trumped? Sorry,my screen resolution is just fine and sorry if I cant afford a bigger screen. Have bigger resposibilities and concerns. I could give a crap! Be respectful of everyone when posting images!

the Canon 50mm f1.8 LTM was my first rangefinder lens and I still have it. I tend to like the 28mm LTM / M-mount format a little better, but the 1.8 is a very nice lens.
