Who sold his RFs and stayed...?

I've been an amateur photographer for decades, but only became a member here after I got my first RF. I found and still find RFF the most interesting and valuable photography related site on the web and intend to stay here for as long as I'll shoot and with whatever camera that will be....

Just wondering, who got rid of his/her rangefinder camera(s) and yet, stayed here at RFF?
 
I would say that 50% of the time I shoot with an AF point and shoot camera, 30% with an SLR, and 20% with a rangefinder or scale focus camera. Regardless of the camera type, I find this forum provides a wealth of information for all kinds of photography, regardless of what camera is used.
 
So you guys are saying it's OK for an old guy noobie like me to hang here even though, like my user name says, I always keep my D7000 on auto?
I've just found time to get into my inherited cameras thanks to being let go by my former employer so I'm trying to figure out exactly what it is I have in the closet.

Thanks. I just shot a test roll of film thru an M3 last weekend. I discovered my D7k makes me a lot better photographer than I realized. Taking photos with a manual camera is a lot of 'work' for someone whose photo experience has only started to come to life with the advent of digital photography.

OK, if you go for that kind of "quality", an old M3 can not hold up against whatever modern digital. But then, there is this other kind of "quality". You'll see it once you've developed an eye for it.
 
in my case it was the other way round. i started to read here regularly, because of the quality of this forum. then i bought a rangefinder... (to be accurate: then i bought some rangefinders)

You aren't the only one, although I'd actually bought my first RF before joining (a Zorki 1).
 
Other way around for me too. RFF brought me back to film, and rangefinders, although like many here I also use digital.

I've been down the rangefinder rabbit hole and have recently come back up for air. BUT... I linger around the edge with the Fuji digital wannabes. :)
 
Since I joined RFF,shortly after buying a FED2, I have increasingly shot more and more on rangefinders. Now its 95% rangefinder..well they just seem to suit me . So I haven't sold ..

.. But regardless of that its the quality of work and the people who comment here that keep me returning. The fact that you are still here even though you have sold you RF gear is no surprise. Part of the attraction of this place is that the site and particularly the gallery does not limit itself solely to rangefinder cameras so keep posting Huubl whatever you shoot with
 
I am starting to entertain thoughts of selling my CV gear, but can't quite come to terms with the idea yet.

If I ever do sell, I am sure I will stick around on RFF.
 
By all means, stay.

Who knows, you might get an RF again.

And it isn't just RF's. We shoot SLR, TLR, and scale focus cameras.

And live view and EVF.
 
Seems to me the RFF name is a legacy name. It's just as much a mirrorless forum at this point. That said, I still have a M8. :)
