Who uses Minolta MC/MD glass on their MFT body?

I'm getting into the MFT world in the near future with a yet-to-be-purchased GF1 and 20mm kit. I recently got into film with an EOS-1N when I sold my 5D/35L/85L awhile ago. I actually really enjoyed it, so I searched to find a cheap, but high quality, film system with a nice classic body and lenses that could be adapted to the GF1.

So, I just ordered the following Minolta setup from KEH. So cheap for the quality I'm getting... My hunch is that Minolta prices stayed a bit lower than Olympus OM or Pentax stuff because it can't be adapted to EOS or Nikon DSLRs.

Now I just need to buy the adapter and the actual GF1, and I should have a nice kit that I can do a lot of things with. Now I can go out with both the film and digital body, knowing I can use any of my lenses on either one. Or if I want to travel light, take the Panny with just the 20/1.7 and leave the old stuff in the closet. 😀

Anybody shoot Minolta glass with micro four/thirds? Feel free to post shots you've taken with them or shots of them on your MFT body.

MC and MD lenses need a pin shortened on the rear of the lens and an adaptor for 4/3rds. The adaptor is mounted and held on the lens using a "grub" screw, so it's more convenient to use an adaptor for each lens. Just more convenient.

There is a post thread in which a discussion of the MD lens use and mod is discussed. It's in the current discussion section of www.fourthirdsphoto.com at this time. I just read it five minutes ago.

NOTE: I think this discussion is for the full 4/3rds. I think you may have to have the standard 4/3 to M4/3 adaptor, and then the MD to 4/3 adaptor to get the connection you are looking for??? Not sure on this.

On looking a bit more, It looks like there are adaptors for MD lenses direct to M4/3. However, I don't know how this may relate to the diaphragm pin situation using the lenses on Standard 4/3.

Thanks. I'll find out soon enough about the pin. I'm no stranger to using a dremel on my gear...I've even trimmed a $1000 contax planar 100/2 to fit my 5D.

I wasn't sure if the MD lenses would mount to an adapter with a set screw or not, but it isn't a big deal. I'm sure Ill quickly figure out which lenses/focal lengths I prefer on each body, so I'll eventually settle into using specific combos.

I have the Jinfinance MD-u4/3 adapter and have no problems with using it on a variety of MD lenses. No modification of the lenses is necessary.

Here's an example, using the 58mm MD lens on my G1, taken during a recent vacation to southern Arizona, at a model airplane field, cropped to square format (as were all the images I gathered during this trip).

I actually have a MC/MD lens to 4/3rd body adapter.

Which I can stack in front of the 4/3rd lens to m4/3rd body adapter that I just got.

That way I can use my MC/MD lenses on the E-P2.

I've got a roxsen m43 MC/MD adapter for around $30. It works great, no issues with the pin sticking out the back of the lens with both my 50mm F1.4 and 135mm F2.8. After buying it, I felt like an idiot wasting so much money on the Voigtlander Nikon F m43 adapter.

Sweet. GF1, 20/2.7, EVF, and spare battery coming Thursday. Got it all for a great price too. A Minolta to MFT adapter and a c-mount to MFT adapter are on their way as well. Next weekend is going to be fun!
