Well here's a new year.... just reading the forums the past couple weeks, it seems there's some people that have trips planned already (Paris for example).

So where are you going this year?

Trips my wife and I have in the books (if everything pans out):
1. June - Kauai, Hawaii for a wedding
2. August - Vancouver & Victoria, B.C. Will probably sneak in a trip to Seattle as it's only a couple hours away
3. November - hopefully Manila, Philippines with a side trip to Hong Kong (really hope this works out!)

** Also trying to squeeze in a week long photo trip to NYC **

My wife and I are contemplating either Portugal or the Dalmatian coast this summer; I'm happily reviewing past RFF threads for advice on these areas.

Flying to Japan tomorrow, then France in July and August, in between we might go to India and after more adventures, most likely in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, possibly Egypt and Saudi Arabia!!!

jky: send us a PM if you come to Hong Kong, we could go shooting for a day with the HK RFF club, there is no better way to discover Hong Kong.

Max: I think only the DSLR will make it on these trips (usually bring an RF also)... really have to lighten the load now for a diaper bag & an umbrella stroller.
So if a DSLR along side your RF is okay, then I'll bookmark this post :)

I'm itching for some snaps of Hong Kong!

SLR, DSLR, Point&shoot, whatever, it's not about the camera, it's just about taking pictures and having a good chat around a fresh beer at the end of the day!!!!

My wife and I are heading to Vienna, Budapest and Prague in 18 days! This will be for about two weeks. My last visit there was in 1990, under very different circumstances.

I may go to Amsterdam this summer... then Nuremberg and Prague (May-June). Later, I must visit family in Guatemala (July). That's it this year! :)

Based out of Singapore, my life is a continuous trip...

Looking at this year:
- Japan (who knows how many times, at least 3)
- Hong Kong (same as Japan but probably more)
- Macau (guessing twice to go see my sister)
- Cambodia (works doing a house building project - gotta go and photograph)
- Australia (guessing at least twice, havent been back for 3 years)
- China (Shanghai, Zhuhai & Shenzhen all next month and within a week so difficult to find time to shoot)
- Thailand (2~3 times)
- Malaysia
- Indonesia

Lots of traveling, I see! Larry, sounds like your nearing trip to north central Europe might be a chilly time!

In April, we're off to Malta & Sicily on a historical guided tour, then a week in the Canary Islands to relax. Lots of pondering what minimal camera kit to pack, likely the Bronica RF645.

Probably Hawaii's big island for a couple weeks in November.

Francisco: Prague is such a beautiful city!

craygc: Dang! There a time of the year where you'll ever be home?!

* I started this thread out of mere curiousity, but reading the several responses tickles the traveller's itch!

Cheers

Main summer trip is to California for two or three weeks - Pleasanton (?). I think it's an easy trip into SF, so the photo ops. will be good.

Also looking at trips to Berlin and Sardinia as the flights are really cheap just now.

Other than that it's up and down the River Soar in my little boat.

Anchors aweigh!

In the pipeline:
-Eindhoven, The Netherlands over Easter
-Helsinki, Finland over the summer
-Romania over the summer sometime

Of course this is all dependent upon money.

Mick- It truly is a small world. I am about to get in my car and drive the 45 minutes to Pleasanton (work). It's a very easy trip to SF, you can take Bart (subway) from Pleasanton right to the heart of the city.

Enjoy your trip.

I want so badly to go to japan for 3 weeks. Hopefully around October (my birthday) or November, as it's the perfect temperature, and Autumn, which means the country will be alive with beautiful shades of red, orange and yellow.

Mid to late November (even the start of December) is the best time to see the autumnal colours in Japan.

As for me I just came back from a three week trip to Thailand (1 week) and Laos (2 weeks) a few weeks ago. The next trip might be Iran in April/May. My GF has wanted to visit for ages and it looks like I'll get dragged along.

let me know if you need any pointers for Portugal :)

Try to see the wet markets in Palermo and Catania in Sicily - lot's of photo-opps.

2 weeks in Malaysia in March - friend's wedding
2 weeks in Ireland in May - photographic trip with other photographers.

Maybe Berlin for the RFF meeting there.
Otherwise, Berlin a week later.

This summer, 4 weeks in Mongolia.

And there are quite a few places I'd like to visit one day; maybe one day this year.
