Okay... upon re-reading it several times... perhaps "wtl' mis-read it and thought these comments were about him. They weren't... they were directed at myself.

first of all, you claimed you have high tolerance bar that indicates, or maybe just on back of your mind, the original poster and possibly others with the similar concern, has lower bars. you do not personally understand or have concerns of the posted topic, which is fine. But by claiming you have a high tolerance seems to be...um...arrogant and, of course, insulting. same thing for someone to ask others to find a dictionary or such, which came from all the people who insist to teach others with respect, which of course is a joke.

then you came to a conclusion of (famous word) "insulting" which, by this thread alone, gives no indication of the original poster was trying to insult anyone, includng the "job-well-done and pack-on-your-own-back" moderaotrs. He simply raised a concern of how this forum should be moderated, right or wrong.

look at your own post - were you just afraid someone else took the line so you had to say it before then? please tell me where the original poster wishes what you claimed he wishes for.

i agree, too much talks, which is where all these problems came from in the first place.
 
Bertram: one thing that you have to remember, is that rhetoric and discourse are two things that by themselves are two different beasts than on the other side of the pond. Engaging in either can be taken quite personally and indeed in an insulting manner on this side of the pond.

I agree with all your points. Just remember that there are completely different perspectives when arguing abstracts such as "rights" and "offensiveness", and these are specially volatile.

While some may understand that you are engaging in a discussion, others may perceive it as being engaged in a petty argument. While some may feel the best way to resolve them is to discuss them, others fell the best way to do it is by ignoring. Doing the opposite is, of course, taken as a rude act, and then reply accordingly.

Have stayed off this forum after getting tired of listening to the chest beaters who insult people, then wail their rights have been violated when their posts are removed. I particularly dislike posters (see above) who consider themselves intellectually superior, particularly to us unsophisticated and uncultured Yanks.

I have been checking for some time trying to figure out how to get myself unregistered from the forum so my blood pressure tests don't get skewed when I go to the doctor. Haven't been able to find that option.

So, my question is, how badly do I need to insult the above poster so I will be removed from the membership list and won't be tempted to log in and ruin another otherwise good day. Any direction you could give me on the proper phrasing will be appreciated.

Sorry to hear this, we've lost more than a few of the best members. IMHO

I'm not sure why I'm reading this thread. It's probably morbid interest. Like trying not to watch an impending wreck.

To others here... Some people may like to argue, and others might like to watch (I'll count myself guilty hre), but wouldn't it be better over all to just let it drop.

Paul maybe i'm using PM's in the wrong way then? i use then generally to thank people for comments made on my work and to offer up further discussions via email which has no real value in a public forum thread as they often go OT. I'm confused?
