I had considered buying an M8 or M9 for a while. I got the M 240 because of the allure of FF and Leica. I started shooting RF with a RD-1 (love that camera). Anyway, due to hanging out with bad company, I was influenced to desire the Leica. One showed up here in the classifieds for a good price and the rest is history.
Now I need to learn to use this new camera....
1) Welcome
2) That's what you get for hanging out with the wrong crowd! Leica G.A.S! One of the worst in the camera forum world.
3) When can I get my Sonnar back?

1. Thanks for the welcome
2. I should have known that bad company would hang out in these forums
3. Soon, I did take out to shoot today.

I've attended a few photography meet-ups during which other photographers have shown interest in my M8, mainly because it looks different from what most people are use to seeing these day (DSLRs). So I briefly explain that yes its a digital camera and let them look through the viewfinder to see how the frame lines and focusing work. When asked why I use it instead of DSLR I simple tell them that I like the smaller lens and how compact the system is in general and that I enjoy shooting with it.
JMO but could never understand how walking around with relatively compact kit such as say a Leica M and a 35mm or 50mm lens is showing off/bragging but walking around with a DSLR with a huge white lens on it isn't showing off.

Yes, exactly... Mine's chrome so many assume it's an older camera and show only mild curiosity, if any. But for some (perhaps whose chancellor of the exchequer won't approve the extravagance) the red dot evokes reactions like: "Ooh eee, ooh ah ah, bing bang, wala wala bing bang, ooh eee ooh ah ah bim bam walla bang boom." I think that's about what the one-eyed one-horned pigeon-toed flyin' purple people eater said when he saw the Leica but I can't verify it so it may have been someone else whose heart went pitter-pat.I've attended a few photography meet-up during which other photographers have shown interest in my M8. I have at least a dozen Leica lenses I've owned for many years. Speaking candidly for myself, I would not have bought an M8 much less M9 and now M240 if I did not already own Leica lenses for it. There's just no way I would pay what they go for nowadays, nor would I have spent multiple thousands of dollars on a body to use Voitlander lenses on it, although they are excellent lenses and I own a bunch of them.

I had an M9 previously and before that an M8, I had bought a RX1 and appreciated the ability to use the camera after dusk but didn't enjoy physically using the device! So I sold up the M9 and RX1 and bought the M240.
