Why do they show the good films late at night?

it's 2:09 am, I have to get up a 8:00 (latest) and Blow Up runs 'til 2:50.

Thomas had a nice flat, and an even better darkroom!

Socke : I bet you were viewing Arte ^^ I really love that channel. But don't blame them, Blow Up was aired at 8:30 pm as well a few days before. I watch the film twice 😀

To teach you how to use a VCR. 😛

Andy with me it's the same with TV as with film, it all ends up on my computer 🙂

TV is 100% digital here, so the VCR is reduced to playback. My 23 year old 17" TV is connected to a device that converts digial signals to analog ones and the VCR is reduced to playback only.

Right on! But I was to Hamburg to pick up a Contax Lens bag at Photohaus Colonnaden and so spent the evening with a friend at the Hamburg City Beach Club. Pictures follow 🙂

I have the same set up, but I can still set the VCR to record a programme at the correct time.

I have the digi box, from there it is connected to the video, which is connected to the TV. I choose the channel on the digibox, set the timer on the VCR, and voila! one recorded film or programme the next morning! 😎

the movies you like are like rangefinders, not everyone is into them. So for late filler they run them and make us all insomniacs or induced narcoleptics. Conversely if you are an insomniac it is probably the best of all worlds!

I first saw this movie when I was 15, I was stunned. It played on late night TV back then on CBS here in the states. I loved it and still do. And yeah, the Herbie Hancock theme was a bonus. He did lots of movie and TV themes back then. Did anyone else spot the other musical bonus? (there will be a test) Hint: involves a guitar.

The remake with John Travolta was just OK. No comparison to the original.

Yes it was, but there are distinct similarities to "Blow Up" and "The Conversation." It was as though DePalma thought highly of both films and felt he could bring something new to both stories by combining them.

The way the character Jack discovers the murder is by reviewing his work on tape. He then processes the audio over and over to zero-in on the evidence. Similar to the Way that "Thomas" uses his enlarger to zero-in on what appears to be a corpse.

Also Similar to "the conversation" as it involves audio.

Uh, wasn't that "Blow Out" and involved solving a crime with sound? Rather than with photograhy?

Yes, but DePalma basically was the king of remakes, paying "homage" to countless movies and scenes. It was a "remake" of Blow UP

That would be the Yardbirds. I believe with Page and Beck. 🙂 IIRC they smash it up a bit, no?
YEAH! That was them! That was part of why I was so out-of-the-box when I saw it back then. I still get a thrill out of it.

I have heard Page was realy pissed off at his performance so that was entirely impromptu.

I know this is mostly OT. Please forgive me, the thread originally had some relevance with photography.

I had another thought just now-- a fun double or triple feature would be "Blowup," "The Conversation," and "Diva." The thread for this would be capturing covert events, unwanted attention, and paranoia.

Blow Up has to be aired late at night.
I also watched the airing a few days back at 8:30 and it was no fun. I even manged to stay awake through it. That's not how it's supposed to be.
