The fact that threads about digital black and white are cropping up regularly is interesting but not unexpected. With the Monochrom we are on the edge of a new progression in photography courtesy of a dedicated black and white digital camera. Leica, although I don't like them as a company, are to be congratulated. They have chosen to take quite a risk by offering a dedicated photographic tool of this nature and from what I've seen of the images from it here (occasionally) it offers more than a converted colour file from a conventional digicam in terms of tonal range etc.
This current phase isn't going away any time soon IMO. People are now now starting to see black and white digital as an alternative to film.
