Lenses 35/21 Gears 46/20
I answered about one hundred times in one hundred threads about the same - do I need UV filter?
One hundred one - yes.
And hood to me is always the option. Just because for some lenses it is hard to get good one.
This is what happened yesterday.
It was nice evening outside and my daughter chose to be dressed in some nice colors dress. I asked for the picture outside and we went. I took few with DSLR and one on old Kodak slide film loaded in M4-2 with Summitar-M 35 2.5. I took this one frame and we were about to go inside. I turned into the blowing wind and... BIF (bird in fly) pooped on me. I have one drop on the t-short and the rest of the load was deliberately delivered by this flying cow at M4-2. The bombing was dropped on the lens! My most expensive RF lens!....
But it was not a big deal. Poop landed on the filter instead leaking into the front of the lens and into the hood instead of lens body. It was very easy to clean, comparing next to impossible if no filter and hood!
Hood&Filter is a must! For some of us. 🙂
