Why is CV 35mm/f1.4 so expensive?

It also seems evident to me that as CV moves to replace the LTM with M mounts in their product line, there is a general upward hike in CV retail prices. All the new M lenses over the past two years have been priced higher than previous LTM models, yet still lower than ZM prices.

Let's face it, after breaking into the imposing RF field some years ago, CV has earned considerable respect for their optics. I see the price increase as part of brand establishment and value-added recognition.

And I do think that little Nokton 35/1.4 is a marvel for what it offers in such a small package.

Economics 101 - supply and demand.

In time when the market is saturated with both lenses, I assume that the two will come close again. I will, however, expect that the 35mm is still going to be more popular than the 40mm due to the "common" or "popularity" or the 35mm FL.

Not to mention improved finish and build quality!

I stay with the vintage affordable lenses without worrying about new lenses. If I ever feel one day that I actually want a 35mm/1.4, I will buy one.
