Leica had the "Mini" series of AF point and shoot cameras. They were initially expensive, but came down in price to within reach of a Nikon Lite-Touch. I have the "Leica Mini", bought new-in-the-box for $110. It has a sharp 35mm F3.5 Elmar on it and a very nice viewfinder. Nina just used it on vacation, preferring it over the squinty VF of the Nikon. The "Mini III" went to a faster lens and picked up the Summar name, but was an F3.2 lens- far from f2 of the 1930's Summar.
The Summarit on the new Leica is 40mm F2.4 classic 6-element 1-2-2-1 "Xenon" design. The 50mm F1.5 Summarit is a derivation of the Xenon in which the rear element is split into two elements of less power. The Canon 50mm F1.4 is the only F1.5 (and faster) LTM lens that I am aware of that stuck to the 6-element configuration. It used newer high-index of refraction glass.
