Wide angle help

Hey Godfrey, Not looking for others to decide for me, just getting others experience and ideas in order to make an informed decision. There are times I wish I had something wider while out with my Leica kit. Sometimes one can only back up so far. Hardly ever use the 50mm summicron and that goes for the 50's on my slr kits. As some have suggested slrs are easier to frame accurately with wide angles. Just don't want to make a $1500. mistake.

A few years back I traded a Voigtlander 21 4.0 LTM, silver with the LH-1 hood a 35 3.5 Summaron LTM and a few other items for a 28 2.8 Elmarit ASPH. It's a phenomenal lens. Small, sharp and good handling. It wasn't much wider than the 35 Summicron with it's own character and provided just enough wiggle room in tight spaces. The M6 had 28 framlines, you do have to look in the corners but I also used it on a M2 without a finder. Like you, I had a 50 Summicron that sat in the bag a lot more than it should have. After selling off the previous Leica gear, I started over with an M4 and when it came time for a wide angle lens, I went back to a 21 Voigtlander. I like how it gives an addition sense of space over the 28 and it is used mostly for landscapes. If you're looking for a lens more suited to street or interiors, go with a 28.
