Will the Leica M be back ordered to the extent that the M9 was?

I don't think it will be as long a waiting list as the M9 at all.

To start with the response has been lacklustre to say the least, a lot of people with an M9 not seeing the point in upgrading (unlike the obvious difference of going full frame with the M9 and being able to use lenses in their normal range again). And for all the people who have genuinely needed the new features of Live View etc, they will have bought a Canon by now. And for the die hard aficionado's the debates over the superior qualities of a CCD sensor over CMOS are only just begining.

No, the list will not be as long.

I don't see that waiting list being as long, I still think its much easier to use an slr rather than going down the live view. I always thought of the rangefinder to compliment SLRs rather than replace. Also surely the ME and the MM has taken a lot of the sales not to mention the cracking deals you can get on M8s if you just want something to replace a film rangefinder. What was the waiting list like with the M8?
I'm sure a lot of the sales have been taken by the Canon 5dMk111 or Nikon equivalent.
