Thought I would post this in case it's of interest to anyone in the future. If anyone else has had this problem maybe you can add your input.
I was loading a film into my CLE yesterday. I inserted the film into the take up spool and wound on one frame. I put the film can into it's position, pulling the film across the shutter, and wound on another frame to make sure the film was engaged in the sprockets before closing the back. This is the same procedure I've used on all my cameras for years. I wasn't paying very close attention - I don't need to - but my recollection is the wind on lever travelled the full distance when I wound on the second frame, but I was aware the film wasn't moving. I thought I had pressed the rewind button by mistake and tried to fire the shutter to wind on another frame but the shutter wouldn't fire and, not surprisingly, the wind on lever was stuck in it's parked position and wouldn't budge.
I took the film out and noticed the shutter wasn't fully cocked - hence why it wouldn't fire, but with the wind on lever jammed, I couldn't fully cock the shutter - I was stuffed.
A Google search turned up nothing that described the problem I had so I resorted to trying a few slaps. Top, bottom, ends and slaps on the back did nothing but when I tried a slap to the front, something clicked inside and the wind on lever became free. I fully cocked the shutter and fired it and now everything works again.
I don't know what caused this and I hope it doesn't happen again but if anyone knows anything about this problem, I would be pleased to hear it.

The one time this happened to me, I convinced myself the cassette wasn't properly seated. Never happened before or since.

With the CLE, if the shutter CURTAIN isn't fully closed the camera will not fire and seem like something is jammed. It's happened to me a couple of times, usually just after film loading. The problem can be deceiving, because the curtain can LOOK closed, because it's under the frame mask. However, if you use something thin and slip it under the mask, to move the curtain toward the fully closed position, you'll find that it is open just a little bit (sometimes more), and it works.

any idea what might cause that to happen? advancing too rapidly, maybe?

In my case, I could see the metal strip where the two curtains come together. It had stopped about 1/8 of the way across the frame. The curtains were shut (they were together) but were stuck in a partly cocked position.

This has happened to me once, and I boldly just poked curtains forward with my finger

It's happened to me twice now, just after I've rewinded film and opened the back. I keep the back open and remove the lens, pulling the curtain sideways very carefully with the thumb and index finger. Works like a charm.

Hello to everyone on this thread. I am new here and this is my first post........obviously a cry for help to all you active CLE users !! I just bought my CLE complete with Leitz 90m f4 lens from a market in southern Peru for the jaw dropping sum of US$80 !! The camera is in very good condition , is totally complete and has no signs of damage whatsoever or DIY tampering . Everything (including the electrics) works as it should except I am experiencing one intermitent problem.......after firing the shutter the camera sometimes (but not all the time) refuses to allow me to wind on to the next frame for anything from 5 to 10 seconds. I am still in Peru and need the camera repairing now but am reluctant to entrust the camera to a local repairshop until I have some idea of what the fault may be. Any guidance from you helpful and knowledgeable guys and gals out their would be very greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Sorry no one has replied to your message. I guess, like me, they don't have an answer. Only thing I can suggest is to fire the camera with no film and the back open and watch the shutter. Maybe the shutter isn't closing like has been mentioned in this thread.
