Hopefully the Arctic Chill moving south over New England will create a Polar Shield and keep the snow to our south. Sorry to you guys in NJ and Long Island, but better you than me.

If it were not for Canada we would be a lot colder. We get a lot of our energy from the 51st State.

Quebec resells hydro power to Vermont if I'm not mistaken, and the west sells water too, apparently. Not everyone here supports the tar sands though

The U.S Government could learn a lot from Canada as far as balancing a budget. In the early 90's Canada lost its triple AAA bond rating because of a huge deficeit. At that time you had a liberal government, but austerity measures were taken and taxes were increased, and in about a decade Canada got its triple AAA rating back.
Ironically mining tar sands adds to global warming. Oil has to be above $80-$85 a barrel for mining Tar Sands to be cost effective, but there is also a huge cost to the enviornment.
Interesting to note that somehow a new subspecies has evolved. Because of extinction of the Eastern wolf in the U.S. Western Coyotes have breed with Eastern Wolves from Canada. Today this hybred has been discovered in the Bronx and Long Island. One was captured in Central Park. Anyway another example of unintended consequences that we Americans can blame on our good neighbors in Canada. LOL.

I know that Rob Ford is a politician, but at least I really appreciate his honesty and in taking ownership for his wrong doing.

Interesting to note that I went to a lecture slide show of a notable wildlife photographer who shot in arctic conditions. During the question and answer session I inquired if he shot analog or digitally and why. This photographer stated that he had problems with analog cameras freezing and film shattering. He found less difficulties shooting digitally.
My thoughts were like yours: I thought analog film cameras would be perfered.
