Said bye to the M6 this evening...
I don't get attached to gear (except for my F3), but I already miss the little sucka'...
May have to get me a rebound 6... or perhaps 7...
 
... just been sitting in the filing cabinet for the past 7 months... along with the exposed rolls from the last time it was used. Fondled it a bit... then put it back (the camera!)...
 
My M6 is in her box and I am struggling with the same decision. I reach for my M2 or M3 first, so maybe I can let go of the M6.
 
sold my M7, same reason. i'm not a collector, hard for me to keep what isn't used. bodies can be replaced, somehow glass is different though.
 
Even with all the cameras I have, I would have a difficult time selling them. I do/have given cameras/kits to my oldest daughter. Even thought I never would, it is always implied that they are on loan and I could get them back any time I wanted, so they are still "mine."

I try to use all (except the LF) at least some time. However, the most used are the Fujicas and Yashicas, a Minolta X*-1, and the Weltini and Welti. The MF Fuji and Welta get used as well. A 6x9 Zeiss Ikon (non rf), and a Moskva are in the wings, with the Zeiss getting more attention due to its (lack of) weight.

But sell? I don't know if I could. I guess I would have to admit to being something of a collector, but it would be a very small collection.
 
On occasion I am tempted to sell some stuff. I have a basic kit consisting of couple Leicas and a few lenses and we all know we need to have at least two Leicas. I have a Hasselblad 501CM, an exceptional camera. For digital capture I have a D200 and two Zeiss lenses. This is my basic kit. The trick for me is to rotate and use each camera often.
Except for the Nikon/Zeiss rig which was purchased new, all was purchased "used" and in pristine condition. To pick up a Hassey 501CM or Leica gear in like new condition and priced right is not always an easy chore. I would hate to have to go down that path again to restore my kit.
 
I would attempt to put film in it over the past 1/2 year, but then I'd look at the back log I have and see that I'd have a difficult time actually processing it... so there the camera sat.
... I haven't abandoned film, but to have an m6 sitting there waiting for (very) occasional use I thought was overkill - plus I really only shoot with a 35-40mm...
So now I'm in search of a fixed focal length RF a'la Canonet or the like to expose the nearly 500 ft of film I have sitting in the fridge.

This will give me pretty much the same thing aside from the missing red button on the front...

I got rid of my M6 last year. Only used it a couple of times and didn't like the metering..

Consider a Hexar AF. That's a very sweet 35mm lens.

I have actually considered replacing the m with the hexar, but I like the manual option on the Canonet (used to own one years back) + it's cheaper.
Although there's a guy on ebay that sells these for >$150 (apparently overhauled)...
 
I regret selling my M-Hexanon 28mm f2.8 the most. Every time I see photos I've taken with it...

I was thinking perhaps ease of use might make the Hexar an incentive to shoot film, since it seems to be piling up on you. The Hexar's automation is about the cleverest I've seen. I don't miss full manual control when I use it.
I have a Minolta 7SII that fits the bill for inexpensive, high quality RF work, but I never find myself reaching for it over the Hexar.
In any case, I'm sure a Canonet will serve you well.
 
I have bought many cameras and lenses on eBay. Sold nothing. I can't bear to part with it once it's mine. That's how I feel about my women, too. Just ask my wife. :D

Rover: ... sold the summi?... aahhh... deal breaker; was about to press the submit button ;)

Steve: ... don't need the incentive to shoot film at the moment as I really do enjoy the stock I have (TX & HP5). Processing however takes more time than I have to give it.... thanks for reminding me of the Hexar AF, I might just revisit the thought - I recall a couple selling in the classifieds for a little over $300.00 which isn't too bad. Since you mentioned it earlier it's become more than just a fleeting thought...

Derrick: when you were selling that m6ttl, it became a little more difficult to let it go...hope you find that chrome m6 - i know it'll be used well.

T: ... your "women"... plural... wife's cell? ;)
