I'm not having much luck finding out information on a Wollensak Raptar 2" f/2 lens from a Clarus I recently found.
Anybody used one of these/figured out the optical scheme? The Clarus body is forgettable but the lens could be interesting.
The 51mm f/1.5 Raptar is extremely expensive as a cult lens right now, this one I can't find any mention of anywhere.

It took me some time to find out that the various 25mm (1") f/1.9 cine lenses (raptar, super comat, etc.) are mostly Ernostar copies. Not sure if the 2" are the same.

This Raptar lens could be as interesting as the f1.5/ 50mm Frilon lens on the Futura S camera.

Thanks for that, recently picked up a 25mm ƒ1.9 Cine Raptar and have also had a hard time finding out much about it.

I think the Clarus is a neat camera, and I have one myself but with the 2.8 lens. I've seen the 50mm f/2 Clarus lens on at least two bodies on eBay over the past year. They usually go for a bit of money. Here's a short article about the Clarus and the lenses available if you haven't already seen it.

And this might also interest you if you haven't seen it.

and a short blurb stating that Wollensak applied the Velostigmat to their fast lenses of Cooke triplet and Tessar forumula

But good luck finding anything in depth.

It's a pretty camera. Seems to have had some reliability problems during it's run. Reminds me of my old British sports cars.....you needed one to drive, and two to sit in the yard for parts to keep that one running.
I've been watching the one below just out of curiosity. I love the ad copy of "rare and rather notorious".

Agreed, I had the 50/2 version on a Futura-S and it had a lot of character. Interesting is an apt description. This Raptar lens could be as interesting as the f1.5/ 50mm Frilon lens on the Futura S camera.
Thanks all for the links and info. Suppose I'll either have to revive the Clarus body and use that or get it adapted over and see what it looks like on film.
I'm hoping to get this 2" f/2 converted over to LTM with parts from a dead Canon 50/1.8 I have lying around, or maybe a Jupiter-8, Industar-61. We'll see what I can come up with.

I mounted one on my Nikon DSLR, and it worked well as a short macro lens.
The Clarus has a 42mm thread mount, but a different thread pitch than M42. I was able to force feed it into a cheap M42 to Nikon mount.

Greyscale, is that the 50/2?

Yes, it is. There isn't much room to focus on the Nikon, it was easier to move the subject, but it should adapt well enough to focus at infinity on most other bodies.
ETS Oops, sorry, it is the F2.8 lens.

Thanks for the images. I hadn't thought to try it on an SLR although I've stuck some LTM lenses on my Canon DSLR before.

I'm not much help on the 2" f2 but I did have an M-mount converted 2" f1.5 for a few months until I regrettably sold it in 2009.
