I can't answer from the female perspective, but we are fortunate in having a number of female members here, so I'm sure you'll have more useful replies.

Monika, welcome. There are indeed female photographers on this forum - and a whole "guy or gal" thread lurking away, which will introduce you to most. Welcome to the forum, Monika.

I'm a very casual amateur photographer, I tend to shoot urban scenes, night scenes, some of what you would call "street" scenes, and lately some landscape and forest and such, although I'm not "outdoorsy" by any means. 🙂 I've gone through phases of shooting transit and railway.

As to motivation, I really don't know. I just shoot what catches my eyes and my feelings.

It's really a good group here, better behaved than most of the on-line photo forums (fora?).

Be sure to answer the "guy or gal" survey, maybe we can get over 6% again. 🙂 🙂

Welcome Monika. We need more of the womanly touch here! And you definitely have the equipment (camera equipment). Everyone, except the Leica M8 folks who are stressed right now, are congenial and helpful.

Hope you enjoy the stay here, like the guys have said... there are a good handful of ladies here and very talented too!
I'm a fellow women photographer here as well. As for things I shoot, almost anything and everything. Main motivation for shooting is just capturing memories... Just an important part of me I guess. Being able to go back to a photo, and just remember the story behind it is probably my greatest joy.
