Summarex
The great thing about being a lens designer is that you get to name the lens. Dr. Max Berek who worked for Leitz from 1912 till his death in 1949 named lenses after his two favorite dogs. One was Summarex named after his dog Rex (the other Hektor named after his dog Hektor).

Max Berek was a great lens designer who only lived to be 63 years of age, a bit longer than Leica camera pioneer Oskar Barnack though.

Max Berek looked a bit like Kevin Spacey ( I don't know if that is a good thing or a bad thing these days)![]()
IMHO it is better to resemble Kevin Spacey (along with his well known warts) than Thorsten
